EAT and Lose Weight
There are many diets – both past and present that make the claim “Eat More and Lose Weight!”. this is a very attractive sales pitch. After all don’t we all want to eat everything we want and not have to worry about our weight?
A lot of these diets are combination diets which require you to eat certain combination of foods at various times. There is no scientfic proof behind this theory. Popular combination diets are the Six Week Body Makeover, The Skinny Switch and Fat Loss 4 Idiots.
Other diets that make the claim of eating more are vegetarian diets - such as Dean Ornish’s Eat More, Weigh Less and The Raw Food Diet.
Good News! You don’t have to completely change what you eat to reap the benefits of losing weight by eating more.
The truth is most people actually do eat more while following a healthy balanced diet than they would normally. Think about it, a candy bar has an average of around 240 calories – an apple has about 70 calories. This means you could eat 3 apples to one candy bar and be consuming fewer calories. What would fill you up and satisfy you more?
The fact is the only way to burn body fat is to EAT. Food gives our bodies the energy it needs to function. Eating revs up your metabolism! This is why eating frequent small meals increases your bodies ability to burn fat.
This isn’t to say to eat 5 meals of “junk food” every day. The processing, high fat content and high sugar does not give your body the proper nutrition it needs. This is like adding water to your gas tank – it might work for awhile, but it’s not going to last.
