The Cabbage Soup diet is a fad diet. It’s not reccomended, but we list it here for you to see just how silly it is.
Drink unsweetened tea or coffee, cranberry juice and water.
No bread, alcohol or carbonated drinks.
Day One
Eat all the fruit you want with the exception of bananas.
Day Two
Eat vegetables – and of course cabbage soup. You may have a baked potato with butter for dinner. Avoid dry beans, peas and corn.
Day Three
Unlimited fruits and vegetables. NO Baked Potato today.
Day Four
Eat up to 8 banana’s, unlimited skim milk. (This day is supposed to reduce cravings for sweets.)
Day Five
Eat up to 6 tomatoes, 10 to 20 ounces of beef (may substitute skinless chicken or broiled fish).
Be sure to drink your water! This day is supposed to wash the uric acid from your body.
Day Six
Unlimited amount of beef and vegetbales (No baked potato).
Day Seven
Unsweetened fruit juice, brown rice and vegetables and of course soup and more soup.
You may eat unlimited cabbage soup each and every day. You must eat at least one large bowl per day. And it’s the only type of soup you are allowed to eat.
Cabbage Soup Recipe
6 large green onions
2 green peppers
1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
1 bunch celery
1/2 head cabbage
1 package Onion Soup Mix
1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
1 48 oz. can V8
Juice (optional)
Season to taste
Throw all the vegetables into a pot and cook over medium heat to desired tenderness.
There are hundreds of variations to the cabbage soup recipe. Just throw together cabbage soup and tons of very low calorie vegetables, and seasonings.
I don’t know how anyone can eat so much cabbage soup in a week. I think it would be quite monotonous.
